Telehealth - BUT Secure
Enabling Secure Telemedicine
Telemedicine helps address the shortage of doctors and improve primary care in rural areas. However, a major problem with conventional solutions is that the much-praised end-to-end encryption does not apply to all data.

All data must be secure
End-to-end encryption does not cover all data!
The increasing digitalization is creating entirely new possibilities for communication. One area where there is undoubtedly great potential is telemedicine. The biggest obstacle to telemedicine is the secure and protected transmission of sensitive patient data. The currently common so-called end-to-end encryption alone is not sufficient to protect data throughout the entire transmission process.
What common systems conceal
End-to-end encryption simply means that certain communication content is encrypted at the respective device of the participants in an interaction, but not their communication information. The technology used by well-known messaging services, for example, does not encrypt all communication data. Typically, only plain text messages (i.e., not images, videos, etc.) are encrypted. Metadata—such as the fact that communication actually took place—can also be traced and analyzed.
With DermaVisio, all data is continuously encrypted
In contrast, DermaVisio Net—the new technology co-developed in Austria—ensures security in data transmission across all aspects of communication. With DermaVisio Net, all information is fully encrypted and protected throughout the entire data transmission process.
Dermatology & General Medicine
Good reasons for telehealth

Fewer doctors, more challenges
The upcoming wave of retirements presents major challenges for the healthcare system: The number of dermatologists is decreasing, while skin cancer cases are rising. Solutions must be found to use existing resources more efficiently.

Fewer dermatologists
Independent of the pandemic, the number of skin cancer cases is rising rapidly: While there were 447 new cases in 1983, the number had already reached 1,471 by 2018.

Compensating for pandemic-related issues
440 cases of skin cancer were reportedly not detected during the pandemic in Austria (Source: Spot the Dot). A telemedicine solution could have helped prevent this tragic outcome.

Shortage of healthcare workers
The scarcity of healthcare resources, particularly for the elderly, continues to be a pressing issue. The shortage of caregivers, funding constraints, and rising demand make innovative solutions essential.

Assistance for immobile patients
Telemedicine enables remote consultations as a solution for immobile patients. As the population ages, the number of people requiring such services will increase significantly.

ensuring basic healthcare
The growing shortage of (specialist) doctors in rural areas threatens the current level of primary healthcare. Implementing telemedicine solutions can help bridge this gap and maintain access to essential medical services.
At DermaVisio, all data is protected
In the solution applied on the DermaVisio platform, all information, including photos, videos, (audio) files, and similar data, is encrypted throughout the entire data transmission process.
This solution is unique in the field of telemedicine and an essential prerequisite for the widespread use of teleconsultations. With this, telemedical treatments are as secure as traditional doctor visits in the practice rooms: It is impossible to read what information was transmitted, not even whether a consultation took place.
This is an indispensable requirement for the secure use of telemedicine.

Only real data protection will drive the breakthrough for telemedicine
DermaVisio protects health data
With an advanced level of security in transmitting sensitive data, DermaVisio enables the widespread adoption of telemedicine in Austria. This solution plays a crucial role in maintaining primary healthcare, particularly in rural areas, in the coming years.
